“Ignite” Your Company Promotion
I just signed up to present at a local event called Ignite Cleveland. It’s an unusual format; the first of it’s kind I’ve been exposed to. I know some of you out there are involved in promotion, so you might find this interesting.
Here’s how the event runs, straight from the website:
We’re looking for passionate speakers to talk about any topic that interests them. You’ll get 20 slides, rotating at 15 seconds per slide and a total of 5 minutes to talk. If you’re feeling up to it, Submit your Talk – we’ll review them and let everybody know in advance if their talk is scheduled for this event. We’ll send you a nice PPT Template to use, and see you at the event.
This event is free – yes – that’s right, $0….we’re recession proof. There will be copious amounts of beer & hard liquor served before the talks start, but we will be cutting you off once the talks start. Doors open at 6pm and the event should end around 9pm – if you want more details, subscribe to our RSS as more posts will be made available closer to the event.
Just so you get the point, the Powerpoint template they send you is set to auto-advance slides every 15 seconds. So your 5 minute timeframe is strictly imposed. That, in combination with the open, free bar, should make for some “interesting” presentations and an overall fun event.
Locally, given the venue and the format, my sense is the event is targeted at a younger crowd. If you’re looking for a fresh, new concept for building awareness of your company to younger markets, this may be worth a look.
I’ve signed up to talk about entrepreneurial support resources in the region. It should be a lot of fun and I’ll post a event recap next month once I’ve attended.
